Chris Fell



At Closework Chris focuses on helping organisations build blisteringly clear go to market strategies that reflect the core objectives of the client. But its not just about strategy, the hard work is bridging the strategy to action gap, so he has a clear focus on the tactics and plans that needs to follow on from strategy. Many implementations fail for lack of these implementation skills, so he provides implementation services, building content such as white papers, case studies and events, as well as market leading implantation tools such as SAAS based CRM systems and automated lead generation tools. He also has a strong focus on individual and team effectiveness programs, via coaching and workshops. The best product and plans will falter if the people tasked with executing them are not performing effectively.   These three pillars of planning, people and implementation provide the foundations for highly effective organisations.

Chris joined Closework Consulting in 2008, following a long corporate career. He focuses on  getting the best out of an organisation’s go-to-market operations; its people, its “thinking” and its execution capabilities. In short how to go from “Good to Great” in the words of the famous business author, Jim Collins.

Chris has extensive business experience in Europe, USA, Asia and Australia, acquired over the past 20 plus years. This experience has been earned mostly in the professional services space building solutions for clients in the IT and Telco sectors.

Chris started his career working in the UK for an American multi-national IT hardware manufacturer, Zenith Data Systems in a Pan European Marketing role. He moved to Gartner as a technology analyst and was promoted to research director, before moving over head up Gartner’s European Consulting Practice.

Chris moved to the USA, to International Data Corporation’s HQ in Boston MA, to lead its International research and consulting group. After several years in America, Chris was asked to take over the company’s Australia and New Zealand operations as the local Managing Director. Chris stewarded the ANZ operations of IDC over a 9 year period, achieving substantial business growth over this time.

During this time Chris was also responsible for a number of Asia Pacific wide businesses and sat on the Asia Pacific board of Directors for IDC.

During his career Chris has accumulated a wealth of experience in developing people and running advisory services and consulting businesses. This experience combined with his strong commercial experience puts him in an ideal place to provide advice and implementation services that are firmly rooted in commercial reality. Chris is a firm believer in rolling up his sleeves and getting involved personally in a lot of the “hard yards” of project delivery.

Paul Thompson

Paul is Managing Director of Closework Consulting. His career commenced as a teacher, progressing into school and regional executive positions within the education sector over nine years. He moved into sales and marketing, leading national teams and successfully managing business units in a number of international publishing organisations.

In 1999, Paul commenced his consulting career with the international organisation, Mercuri Urval, working with organisations across a wide variety of industry sectors in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. His responsibilities included consultant development as well as assisting client organisations to grow and develop their businesses through the usage of a wide range of proprietary tools and services.

He joined Chandler Macleod’s Consulting Solutions in 2003 as a Senior Consultant, where his role encompassed change management projects with client organisations, leadership development programs, strategic direction facilitation, executive coaching and culture/values programs.

In 2005, Paul established Closework Consulting to provide clients with a more flexible and service focused approach tailored to meet their individual needs and assist in achieving their desired strategies and business results.

Paul has consulted across a wide range of industry sectors including manufacturing, IT, public relations, finance, transport, consumer products, technology and the public sector.

His consulting experience includes organisational analysis and development, role analysis & design, strategy facilitation, leadership and management development, culture/values programs, executive coaching, career transition/outplacement, executive search/selection, team development, recruitment audits, sales team development/training, performance management and succession planning.
